Alex spent eight years with a steel frame company in Holland, as Export Manager for construction projects in central and eastern Europe. Seeking a change of scene he moved to Portugal, fulfilling engineering, sales & marketing roles for quality swimming pool and kitchen companies. He then spent two years as sales engineer involved in the planning, design and construction of steel-frame and wooden homes for a leading Algarve specialist.

Moving on to establish his own business, Alex founded Modernbuild, a one-stop company which offers expertise across a spectrum of quality construction and renovation methods, with today’s energy efficiency standards as a guiding principle.

Claudiu arrived in Portugal from his native Romania in 2002. His first few years were spent working with a wooden-home construction business, which involved specialist training in Scandinavia. Since then he has broadened his building expertise to encompass all aspects of conventional building practice in Portugal, with responsibility for over 100 building & renovation projects across the Algarve.

Claudiu manages a team of experienced all-round builders, which also includes painting and carpentry specialists. From kitchen & bathroom renovations, house extensions and complete new-builds; plus pool construction as well as woodwork such decking and car ports etc, Claudiu brings a wealth of hands-on construction experience to the Modernbuild team.
